Projects¶
A project is the container for one scope and its results. This chapter describes the projects overview and the lifecycle of a project. The individual views inside a project are described in the following sections.
The projects overview¶
Select Projects in the main navigation. The overview lists the projects you have access to.
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Name | The project name. Select it to open the project. |
| Monitoring | Active if recurring monitoring is configured for the project, otherwise Inactive. |
| IPs | The number of IP addresses currently confirmed as assets. |
| Services | The number of services currently confirmed as assets. |
| Last updated | When the project data last changed. |
| Owned by | The user who owns the project. |
| Search jobs | The number of jobs currently running, or No job running. The figure links to the filtered Search Jobs list. |
| Actions | Opens the project settings or deletes the project for users who can manage it. A user whose access comes exclusively from a direct project assignment instead sees Leave project. |
A spinner next to a project name indicates that data is currently being updated.
Creating a project¶
Select New project and complete the two-step dialogue. The procedure is described in full in the Creating a new project guide.
In summary:
- Step 1 of 2 · General: enter the Project name, review the Company, enter the Targets, and optionally adjust the scan Options.
- Step 2 of 2 · Scope options: review the detected type and search scope of each target.
- Select Create.
The project appears in the overview with monitoring set to Inactive and begins its first analysis.
Opening a project¶
Select the project name. The project opens on the Dashboard and offers the following tabs:
| Tab | Content |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Aggregated figures and charts for the project. |
| Scope | Search terms, blacklist, and removed services. |
| Discovery | Candidate findings awaiting assessment. |
| Assets | Confirmed services, hosts, and domains, and the e-mail security of mail domains. |
| Intel | Employee data and domain squatting. |
| Darknet | Records from data leaks. |
The project header provides Export when this feature is enabled for your deployment. See Exporting project data.
The project settings control is available to platform administrators, the project owner, and managers of a company associated with the project. See Project settings.
While an analysis is in progress, the indicator Updating data is displayed next to the project name.
Renaming a project¶
Only platform administrators, the project owner, and managers of a company associated with the project can rename it.
- Open the project settings using the control in the project header, or the gear symbol in the Actions column of the projects overview.
- On the General tab, amend Project name.
- Select Save.
Deleting a project¶
Only platform administrators, the project owner, and managers of a company associated with the project can delete it.
Deleting a project removes its scope and all of its results. The action cannot be undone.
Either:
- select the delete symbol in the Actions column of the projects overview; or
- open the project settings and select Delete project on the General tab.
Deleting several projects¶
The projects overview supports row selection and bulk deletion.
- Activate the checkbox beside each project you are authorised to delete, or use the checkbox in the table header to select all visible rows.
- Select the delete control that appears above the table.
- Review the project names in the Delete projects confirmation dialogue.
- Select Delete.
The platform attempts to delete every selected project. If only some deletions fail, the successfully deleted projects disappear and the failed projects remain selected so that they can be reviewed. Selecting a project that you are not authorised to delete causes that deletion to fail.
Deleting versus deactivating
If you only wish to stop the recurring analysis while keeping the results, set the monitoring interval to Inactive on the Monitoring tab of the project settings instead of deleting the project.
Leaving a project¶
Leave project is available when your access comes exclusively from a direct assignment and you do not manage the project or receive access through an associated company. Leaving removes your own access; it does not delete the project or its data for other users.
- In the projects overview, locate the project and select Leave project in its Actions column.
- Review the confirmation dialogue. After leaving, you can no longer access the project or its data.
- Select Leave project to confirm.
The project disappears from your overview. A project manager can grant you direct access again later. If you also receive access through an associated company, the leave control is not displayed because removing only the direct assignment would not remove your company-based access.
